Legislative Move Changes the Definition of "Defect" in Wisconsin

Buyers and sellers routinely spar over the meaning of "dispute" and what property conditions constitute them. Inconsistency between the standard offer to purchase and home inspection reports have always made these determinations confusing and fuzzy. 

As of July 2018, when a home inspector deems something a defect in the inspection report, the condition must meet the definition contained in the statute of Wis. Stat. 440.97(2m). You can read about all the details as explained by Cori Lamont from the Wisconsin Realtors Association:
